she can be exuberant. but if you look at her a little more closely, you'll see about eight levels of depth going on at the same time she's laughing.

North Carolina: Then and Now

Same bullshit, different group.

nope
1) Do not compare these. Oppression is laterally linked, but that does not mean you get to co-opt struggle for evidence of another. This is not okay.
2) Stop shitting on North Carolina. It was a pretty close race which means that there are people in NC who are overwhelmingly in support of gay marriage but their voices were drowned out. Stand with them. They need it now.
3) If you’re gonna shit on North Carolina, then at least do something useful like sign and pass on this fucking petition to repeal Amendment One.
4) Obama had been delaying saying he supports gay marriage for years because he didn’t want to lose certain demographic voters. He finally owned up to it because yes, North Carolina, but also because Biden slipped up in an interview and declared he was comfortable with gay marriage way ahead of schedule.
5) He’s not a hero for supporting gay marriage. Please remember that it just makes him decent. It shouldn’t be treated like this herculean miraculous good deed. It’s not hard to not be a dick.

The only comparison is that a bunch of bigots are using legislative power to be oppressive.
How that oppression is realized is very fucking different. Hitching wagons to the tenuously related struggle for the right to safety, freedom of association and legal enfranchisement for peoples who are not only physically different, but culturally and linguistically different, against a backdrop of exceedingly violent white supremacy, strikes me as not a little disingenuous and incredibly foul.

If any female feels she need anything beyond herself to legitimate and validate her existence, she is already giving away her power to be self-defining, her agency.

Between farewell and the absence of farewell,
The final mercy and the final loss,
The wind and the sudden falling of the wind.
